Richard Kuklinski, better known as the Iceman is well known for being a contract killer for the mob and a mass murderer. Convicted of killing only two people he happily admitted to killing over one hundred more, but authorities could not prove this (Richard “The Iceman” Kuklinski Biography, 2017). Richard Kuklinski was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on April 11, 1935, to Irish and Polish immigrants (Richard “The Iceman” Kuklinski Biography, 2017). Richard was the secondborn of four other children. Kuklinski’s mother, Anna McNally, was a devoted catholic. His father, Stanley, on the other hand, was an abusive alcoholic who worked on the railroads to support his family. He beat Kuklinski on a regular basis while Kuklinski’s brother, Florian, died from such brutal beating from their father (Richard “The Iceman” Kuklinski Biography, 2017). At a very early age, Richard Kuklinski started killing cats and committed his very first murder as a teen by beating him to death and disposing of a local bully by removing anything on the boy’s body that could identify him such as teeth, fingerprints, as well as any form of identification(Richard “The Iceman” Kuklinski Biography, 2017). Kuklinski dropped out of school by eighth grade and did not hesitate when it came to being violent. Kuklinski would kill people who reminded him of his abusive father.

What makes a psychopath snap? The snap, often called a trigger, usually happens when a psychopath is stimulated by past smells, memories, sounds, feelings, or sights. According to the blog on GoodTherapy.org, a trigger is a reminder of the past. This reminder can cause panic, anxiety, or sadness, which could lead to negative memories (flashbacks). It is a vivid memory that can appear with no warning and cause someone to lose track of their surroundings and “relive” a traumatic event (Good Therapy, 2018). Narrowing down an exact trigger that would make Ted Bundy snap is not clear. Most of the time it’s easy to look back on how a person was raised to find out more about these bad memories which can often pin down these triggers. Ted Bundy admitted in a live interview with Dr. James Dobson that he did not have a bad life growing up. His life wasn’t good, but it wasn’t bad either. Ted Bundy told Dr. Dobson that he believed what made him do these horrific acts were being exposed to pornography and warned viewers of the dangers of it. Ted Bundy was born to a single mom and at the request of her father moved back to live with her parents and help raise the baby.
