Upon looking at a map, if you were to draw a line from Florida to Bermuda, Bermuda to Puerto Rico, and Puerto Rico to Florida, you would be looking at the area known as the Bermuda triangle. This area in the Atlantic Ocean off the Gulf of Mexico is an area that is said to have caused multiple shipwrecks, plane crashes, disappearances of both land and sea, and other seemingly odd occurrences. The Bermuda Triangle was a hot topic in the 1970s because of the many claims that declared ships and people were unexplainable and missing (Kusche, 2015).

The area is a heavily traveled area as Bermuda and other countries are encompassed in the invisible confines of the triangle. But, as the Bermuda Triangle is believed to have caused many disappearances, the Bermuda Triangle has also been an area for skeptics. How can an area, a location, of open ocean and a few islands cause crashes and disappearances? Some individuals believe that hexagonal clouds can generate winds up to 150 mph (Iaconangelo, 2016) are the leading cause while others believe that gas burps of methane explosions that are 150 feet deep and a half a mile wide are the culprits (2016).

I question the claims. Are the disappearances and crashes that occur within the identified Bermuda Triangle stretch of water due to natural events of or human error? Scientific method test this research question, the scientific method should be used. The observation has been made that the 500,000 miles of sea known as the Bermuda Triangle have potentially caused a number of unexplainable disappearances dating back to the 1600s (Bermuda) leading up to the present time with the last reported incident in 2017.
