Every aspect of psychology is fascinating to me, which is why I was naturally drawn to this particular class. The study of what makes individuals act, think, and behave the way that they do is intriguing and extremely captivating. This chapter highlighted some very interesting points regarding how individuals usually define psychology. It is true that for the most part, we associate a “good” personality with someone who has characteristics that we may enjoy whereas we may label someone with the less favorable characteristic as having a “bad” personality (Cervone & Pervin, 2019). I would personally describe personality as the different distinct traits that uniquely shape each being.

would personally describe personality as the different distinct traits that uniquely shape each being. The reason that there are so many theories of personality, in my opinion, is because it is such a complex subject that there is always room for supplementary theories and ideas.

Even though a theory may not be completely correct it still holds value because it serves as a foundation. Other theorists are able to build off of different theories utilizing the information that has been found to be correct. Theories should be scientifically based because this is the only way to have evidence that the information being presented is correct, whereas if it were solely based on intuition it would be just a matter of opinion. Having solid evidence eliminates the chances of any bias or stereotypical opinions influencing the end result of the study.
