Nature versus Nurture has been a debate in the psychological world for a very long time. The debate regards behavior and how we become who we are as individuals. It allows every person to debate whether they believe that behavior is learned or if it is in our genes from birth. This is important to psychology because behavior is one of the keys to learning about psychology and human thought as well as behavior. Nurturing into behavior seems like it has the best concept when discussing and debating the different parts of the argument. Nature V. Nurture has been a debate since the beginning of time. It discusses the basis of human behavior by discussing whether this behavior is something we are genetically born with, or if it is something that is learned over time. Nature versus Nurture is important to psychology because human nature is the key to learning about psychology and human behavior. I believe that nurture is more significant than nature. While biological factors play a huge role in development, however nurturing environments have a stronger impact on the brain and body development. Honeycutt states, “Brain and body development is influenced by responses to changes in our environment”(Honeycutt, 2019). I believe nurture has more impact on human behavior. Nature is the genetic makeup we are born with that contributes to how we behave. Honeycutt states,” Genetic predisposition and innate knowledge help to shape our attitudes.
