PSY 510 RM -MS 5 – MILESTONE FIVE Effects of Attachment – Snhu
Though multiple levels were designed into the attachment scales, the overall hypothesis was supported. Those with insecure attachments have a higher rate of avoidance and anxiety in their interpersonal relationships. Higher levels of preoccupied and fearful attachment styles are attributed to their association with low self-esteem. This research study stood in congruence with previous research in that, insecure attachments were shown to be associated with lower life satisfaction, suggesting an association with lower well-being. An intriguing question that arises from these results concerns the relationships between the participants and their fathers.

This research study stood in congruence with previous research in that, insecure attachments were shown to be associated with lower life satisfaction, suggesting an association with lower well-being. An intriguing question that arises from these results concerns the relationships between the participants and their fathers. The descriptive statistics, total mean score, for total anxiety and avoidance suggest students feel more anxious and avoidant toward their fathers, more so than in their relationships with mothers, partners, and friends. Researchers attributed this to the bond formed with mothers in early childhood.
