Abstract
As organizations continue to diversify, the opportunities for workplace problems intensify and impact the company negative through human behaviors.
Often the underlying causes of these problems are the lack of open, flowing communications or using the wrong organizational structure.
The Engstrom Auto Mirror Plant case study presents an organization facing a financial crisis with root causes in the human behavior.
Individual employee problems can be personality conflicts, supervisor issues, personal trauma, or company structure oriented.
Through analyzing the impact of the organizational issues and the strategic actions from a human behavior viewpoint can be planned to remedy the behaviors that eventually lead to this financial crisis at Engstrom.
The lessons learned from the Engstrom Auto Mirror Plant case study can be applied to an existing business. HomeSeer Technologies with several organizational issues that can be fix with the application of concepts and theories in human behavior.

Case Study Analysis: Engstrom Auto Mirror Plant
Introduction
Explanation of the organizational issuesEngstrom Auto Mirror Plant was a privately-owned business located in Richmond, Indiana and produced mirrors for trucks and other automobiles.
It was a successful company until the 1990’s when the production lines at the plant were redesigned to incorporate new technology. The manager, at the time, lacked the ability to successfully navigate this new technology and form a working relationship with the union, causing production delays and alienating their customers.
There were other issues like managerial attitude, employee terminations as well as the implementation of a monthly bonus plan known as the Scanlon Plan which was introduced in the company by a new manager in 1998, with overwhelming employee support.
The Scanlon Plan was successful in the beginning by, revitalized the plant through increased employee empowerment, company transparency, and a monthly bonus structure.
In 2007 Engstrom once again faced with productivity problems and low profits that stalled the plant; employees were alienated by the lack of monthly bonus payouts for seven months and the layoff of 46 employees. Employees were so dissatisfied they were pilfering from the plant (Beer & Collins, 2008, p. 1- 6).
With this crisis facing the plant, what human behavior concepts and theories could plant leaders use to increase employee morale and motivation that will, in turn, increase plant productivity?
