Nick quit his day job and Zappos was born. His original idea was to have a webs site that offered the most extensive selection of shoes. Over the past nine years the brand evolved, offering the absolute best service online in any category.
Zappos’ vision is that “One day, 30% of all retail transactions in the US will be online. People will buy from the company with the best service and the best selection. Zappos.com will be that online store.”
This set the first part of the P-O-L-C framework by setting a plan for the company. The objective was to offer the best customer service. Zappos’ mission statement is also their “WOW Philosophy”, which is to provide the best customer service possible.
Their mission statement ties into their core company values which are,

3) Create Fun and A Little Weirdness,
4) Be Adventurous, Creative, and Open-Minded,
5) Pursue Growth and Learning,
6) Build Open and Honest Relationships with Communication,

CEO, Tony Hsieh, says Zappos team members should make these values a part of not only their work life but their daily life. Hsieh looks at every win, a win for the whole team.
Thisties in the P-O-LC framework through organizing. Their “WOW Philosophy” creates job enrichment and teamwork. Zappos values their customer’s satisfaction as well as their employees job satisfaction. These are all factors which have Zappos ranked as one of the best places to work. (Chafkin,2009).
Zappos even moved their headquarters from San Francisco to Las Vegas, where there are businesses open 24 hours, to accommodate their employees working the late shifts.
This also benefited the business with tax breaks and the employees again with a lower cost of living. Zappos’ vision is to provide the best customer service possible. (Zappos, 2010).
Standingbehind this vision they have decided to not spend any money on advertising but instead allowed customer reviews and social media posts about their experience with Zappos be their advertising.Zappos has taken that advertising money and invested it back into the client experience.
Insteadof charging shipping costs they have invested that money in call centers where customer will have their calls answered as quickly as possible and can spend the time to explain their situation.
