The topic I chose to focus on for the final project is mental health/well-being. My research question aims to address the impact of the education system on mental health and well-being. I am interested in this topic because I believe our education system is partly at fault for the vast number of millennials suffering from mental illness. I myself was diagnosed with anxiety/depression solely because of the stress of undergraduate classes and working part-time. Once I graduated my symptoms disappeared and I no longer needed medication for my anxiety-induced depression. I would also like to touch on how students are expected to get a degree, get good grades, maintain a job, make money, pay bills, and succeed when the education system is.

For my final project, the topic that I plan to focus on is the topic of divorce and the effect that may or may not have emotionally and socially on a child’s development. Being a product of a broken home, due to my parents divorcing when I was 12, I was scarcely affected. My little brother who was 8 at the time, however, handled the divorce of my parents very differently. While I maintained my social interaction and grades, my brother began to act out tremendously. He was constantly in trouble, became withdrawn, and his grades plummeted. Divorce, which is defined as the dissolution of a marriage, affects children in different ways. Some children experience little to no effects at all, while other children struggle to deal with or accept the fact that their parents are separated and no longer in the same household.
