Nursing is a dynamic profession that has been subjected to continued changes throughout the past and in the modern world. In the early days of nursing, the field was not considered to be prestigious especially since women were the only gender engaged in the act. The scope of this practice in contemporary nursing incorporates the use of different theories and models to enhance patient-centered nursing care. The theories have changed the concept of nursing practice because they provide systematic and purposeful approaches to care (Whitney,2018). Today this field is perceived to be a highly respected and noble course within society. Various significant leaders and historical events have impacted the advancement of nursing and its role. For example, the Crimean War is a crucial event that has influenced the practice of nursing in the contemporary world (Grand Canyon University, 2018).

During the semester of Pediatrics, we also continue to manage and adapt to the global pandemic. There was a glimpse of hope for a couple of weeks that we would be able to return to the personal setting for lecture and resume our in-person clinical rotations. Unfortunately, Covid-19case numbers and deaths continued to climb, and those plans had to be halted once again. Even though it has been frustrating not having the opportunity to get our hands-on experience to fine craft our skills, as nurses, we have to learn to adapt to the situation around us. In this pediatrics semester, we learned what is required to provide the best care for our pediatric patients. I believe the anatomical difference between pediatric patients and adult patients was extremely importantto distinguish the difference because it would allow us to understand why certain disease processes were more severe in infants and toddlers.
