LinkedIn Account Creation and Privacy Professor Ellis CMIS 111 Due Date 23 November 2014
LinkedIn is a social networking site that is unlike others such as Facebook and Twitter, this is a site that is geared towards fostering and sustaining career oriented relationships.
LinkedIn presents your professional profile to prospective employers, the connections that you have establish with peers and business acquaintances or a combination of both, depending on your privacy settings.
LinkedIn offers a free account as well as three different levels of paid account types, with the higher level of account you purchase the more options and features within those options.
It appears LinkedIn could have significant value for someone who is currently looking for or trying to provide a marketable profile for eventually employment options.
The LinkedIn account creation process is relatively routine, though it has a couple more steps than the other social networking sites that have been discussed in previous weeks, it can still be construed as just as easy.
In fact the first step taken is exactly the same; a name, email address and creating a new password will get you underway to creating your LinkedIn account.
The next step of the account creation process has four fields that are required to be filled in; Country, Zip Code, Job title and Company.
(LinkedIn, 2014) Account verification, through email, is the next step, then the usual adding friends through email contacts, linking a phone number to the account, viewing a suggested friends list and the final step of choosing which type of account is best suited for you; with the ability to skip the steps between verification and account type.
Without understanding what LinkedIn could provide and whether I would continue to use it, I chose the free account but, can upgrade if needed in the future.
