Different roles exist in the nursing field to ensure quality education as well as improved patient outcomes(Gorski, Gerardi, Giddens, Meyer, & Peters-Lewis, 2015). Academic nurse educator deals with students in the classroom while academic clinical nurse educators teach students in a clinical setting. Nurse educators play an important role in strengthening the nursing workforce and providing the leadership required to implement evidence-based practice (Laurencelle, Scanlan, & Brett, 2016). They design, implement, evaluate, and revise academic and continuing education programs for nurses. They also lecture in classrooms and educate students in clinical settings such as clinics, nursing homes, and hospitals. Academic nurse educators also perform administrative work in universities, colleges, and hospital-based schools of nursing. There are different specialty organizations for academic nurse educators providing opportunities for both students and instructors.
